Elementary Saturday International Languages – Online and In-Person – Grades JK to 8

Grades: JK, SK, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

The International Languages program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is intended for students who wish to learn a new language, preserve their own language or enhance their intercultural awareness. During the 2025-26 school year, there will be a resource consumable fee of $30 for in-person classes.

Decisions to run courses are based on sufficient student enrolment and instructor availability. A student cannot take the same language twice.

Attention Cantonese and Mandarin Students:

Cantonese and Mandarin series textbooks may be required for your class.

The cost of the textbook is $18.95.

Please make payment by cheque to your class instructor, payable to YCDSB.

Important Notice: Funding and Fees for Language Programs 

Please note that students who are currently taking Italian 🇮🇹 as part of an Extended Day program at one of our 21 YCDSB elementary schools are required to pay a fee of $499 to participate in Continuing Education language classes.

This fee also applies to students registered in two or more classes in the same language simultaneously (e.g. French 🇫🇷 or Mandarin 🇨🇳).

The Ministry of Education does not provide funding for students enrolled in multiple courses of the same language concurrently.
Fees and policies are subject to change based on Ministry funding directives.
