Recreation Leadership Program – Grade 11 & 12

Earn a Grade 12 Credit While Building Leadership Skills

YCDSB Continuing Education, in partnership with the City of Vaughan, is offering a new Recreation Leadership Program for Grade 11 and 12 students.

Students will earn a Grade 12 PLF4M credit while developing practical leadership skills, completing recreation sector training, and gaining experience that can support future employment and postsecondary pathways.

Program Highlights

Through a combination of online learning and in person practical experience, students will develop the skills and confidence needed to work effectively with children, youth, and community recreation programs.

The program includes:

  • 60 hours of online instruction
  • 50 hours of in person, hands on practical experience
  • Leadership development and recreation sector training
  • Opportunities to build confidence and workplace readiness

Certificates and Training

Students will participate in training that includes:

  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • NCCP National Coaching Certification Program
  • Youth Leadership Development Course

Dates and Times

Program Dates:
September 28, 2026 to January 25, 2027

General Schedule:
Mondays and Wednesdays
5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The program also includes a session on Saturday, December 5, 2026.

Additional schedule details will be shared with students once the program begins.

Location and Delivery Format

This is a hybrid program consisting of both online AND in person classes.

Carrville Community Centre

Eligibility

This program is available to Grade 11 and Grade 12 students only.

Program Fee

Cost: $225

The program fee is payable to the Carrville Community Centre.
