Elementary Saturday International Languages – Online and In-Person – Grades JK to 8

Grades: JK, SK, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

The International Languages program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is intended for students who wish to learn a new language, preserve their heritage language, or enhance their intercultural awareness.  A $30 resource consumable fee applies to in-person classes.

Courses are offered based on sufficient student enrolment and instructor availability. Students may not register for the same language more than once during the same session.

Attention Cantonese and Mandarin Students:

Cantonese and Mandarin series textbooks may be required for your class.

The cost of the textbook is $18.95.

Please make payment by cheque to your class instructor, payable to YCDSB.

Important Notice: Funding and Fees for Language Programs 

Students who are currently taking Italian 🇮🇹 as part of an Extended Day program at one of our YCDSB elementary schools are required to pay a $499 fee to participate in Continuing Education language classes.  This fee also applies to students registered in two or more classes in the same language concurrently.

For example, a student registered in more than one French 🇫🇷 or Mandarin 🇨🇳class at the same time may be subject to the fee.  The Ontario Ministry of Education does not provide funding for students enrolled in multiple courses of the same language concurrently.

Fees, funding requirements, and program policies are subject to change based on Ministry of Education directives.
